Inzmo, the Berlin insurtech transforming the rental sector with its financial services products that help tenants and landlords protect their rental property, income and belongings, has officially appointed Michael Jackson as its first Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Michael is the former COO of Skype, and from 2007 until 2018, he was a Partner at venture capital firm Mangrove Capital, early backers of unicorn companies, Skype, Wix, WalkMe, KHealth and TBOL. Michael was also a Non-Executive Director at AXA and Volvo Cars and is a Director at London and Luxembourg-based VC firm Fabric Ventures.

Michael’s appointment follows a significant period of traction for INZMO which experienced 300% year-on-year growth in 2022 across its consumer electronics segment. To date it has served almost 100,000 customers and has 25 full time employees.

Commenting on Michael’s appointment, Meeri Savolainen, Founder and CEO, INZMO said: “We are thrilled to have Michael join INZMO as our first Chairman of the Board. To have someone of his calibre and experience within the insurance industry, startup and VC circles is a massive compliment as well as a big vote of confidence for the business. We are very excited to be embarking on this next chapter of our growth under Michael’s Chairmanship.”

Michael Jackson, INZMO, Chairman added: “I’m delighted to be joining INZMO. It is a great company, with a distinctive culture and huge potential. The sector is ripe for digital transformation and INZMO is only scratching the surface of what’s possible. I look forward to supporting Meeri and the team as they continue to build game changing insurtech products to unlock these opportunities.”

Michael joins after a sustained period of product innovation at the company. In June INZMO launched a ChatGPT powered chatbot to enhance customer service, and recently partnered with Samsung Electronics and Foxway to make mobile phone retail more circular through offering a cellphone rental-as-a-service option to Samsung customers in the Nordic countries.

The insurtech is also planning to imminently revamp its flagship rental insurance product which eliminates the need for hefty upfront deposits while also providing a range of additional features and extensive coverage and protection for tenants and landlords. INZMO’s new rental product will launch in the autumn and will expedite the move-in process for both parties.

In addition to Michael Jackson, the INZMO Board of Directors comprises INZMO Founder and CEO Meeri Savolainen, Mike Sigal, former Partner at 500 Startups, Michael Wieser, Partner at Helvetia Venture Fund and Rait Ojasaar, Partner at Change Ventures.
